INCOMPAS Statement on FCC Mobile Phone Unlocking Requirement Proposal

WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 18, 2024 – INCOMPAS President Angie Kronenberg released the following statement of support in response to the FCC’s Mobile Phone Unlocking Requirement Proposal.

“INCOMPAS applauds the FCC for proposing to adopt rules requiring mobile providers to unlock mobile phone handsets. Expanded unlocking requirements is good for competition and consumers. It will allow mobile customers the freedom and flexibility to take their existing phones and switch from one mobile service provider to another more easily, enabling increased competition in the mobile service marketplace and applying a consistent standard to all service providers.”
