INCOMPAS Applauds NTIA's Spectrum Strategy Implementation Plan
WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 12, 2024 – INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering released the following statement in response to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration's (NTIA) National Spectrum Strategy Implementation Plan:
"Harnessing our nation's scarce spectrum resources is critical to ensuring America's foothold as a global leader in technology. The NTIA's Spectrum Strategy Implementation Plan is an excellent step forward in maximizing spectrum and allocating these resources appropriately. We have long supported taking a look at the lower 3 GHz band to explore the potential of repacking and sharing. Additionally, we are pleased to see the two-year study on the 7 GHz band and the 37 GHz band will be on an expedited timeline for unlicensed use.
"While these are all welcome developments, another strong component of a spectrum plan lays at the hands of the FCC - the 12 GHz proceeding. This strategy, coupled with action on this critical proceeding, would unleash the capabilities of mid-band spectrum for licensed terrestrial use. We applaud the NTIA for putting forth this thoughtful and impactful strategy and urge the FCC to move forward on the 12 GHz proceeding to help bolster these efforts."
