BroadLAND/Mignon Clyburn Statement on Anna Gomez FCC Confirmation
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 7, 2023) – The United States Senate voted today to confirm Anna Gomez as Commissioner to the Federal Communications Commission, setting up a full FCC for the first time under the Biden Administration.
In response, Mignon Clyburn, Co-Chair of the BroadLAND Campaign and former FCC Commissioner and Acting Chair, released the following statement:
“Congratulations and welcome to the Federal Communications Commission, Anna Gomez. Serving the American people on the FCC is a great honor and an opportunity to better the lives and futures of families, students and small businesses. Working in collaboration with the other Commissioners, Ms. Gomez will have the opportunity to build a better broadband future that creates new jobs and opportunities while closing old divides that held back communities - urban and rural - for far too long. The BroadLAND campaign looks forward to working in partnership with the full FCC, as well as other federal and state partners, on our checklist that speeds deployment and competition policies that spur innovation and affordability for all.”
