INCOMPAS Commends Improvements on FCC's Latest National Broadband Map
WASHINGTON, D.C. - MAY 30, 2023 - INCOMPAS, the internet and competitive networks association, released the following statement in response to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) announcement on the release of its new map that will be used to determine the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) allocations for the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program:
“Vast resources are allocated to bringing broadband to every corner of the country and connecting Americans everywhere. It is critical that the maps directing this process are as accurate as possible to ensure we meet the needs of the country and build new networks to unserved and underserved areas,” said INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering.
“INCOMPAS is pleased to see the latest version of the FCC’s National Broadband Map, and the improvements that have been made since its original release in November,” Pickering noted. “The revised maps will be essential in assisting NTIA in determining state allocations for the BEAD Program. We look forward to continuing to work with the FCC, NTIA, state and local broadband offices, and all our members to ensure that the map continues to improve and reflect the locations where high-speed broadband networks are deployed to unserved and underserved locations.
“We are experiencing a truly transformative moment for our industry and our country and must keep the momentum going to bridge the digital divide.”
