INCOMPAS Statement on Whip Clyburn “Internet 4 All” Legislation News

With Quotes from CEO of Granite Telecommunications and CEO of Crown Castle

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 10, 2021) – Today during The 2021 INCOMPAS Policy Summit, House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) announced the timeline for re-introduction of his "Internet 4 All" legislation, and indicated he has lined up support in the House and Senate for action.

The keynote conversation (watch here) also included Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS); Chip Pickering, CEO of INCOMPAS; and INCOMPAS members Jay A. Brown, President and CEO, Crown Castle; and Rob Hale, President, Granite Telecommunications LLC.

In response to the news that Rep. Clyburn will re-introduce Internet 4 All, both member company executives provided additional statements of support:

Jay A. Brown, President and CEO, Crown Castle: “Internet 4 All is an important moonshot that has the potential to transform our economy and better prepare America for our 5G future. Federal legislation combined with smart state and local action that speeds deployment by removing roadblocks to competition will unleash more private investment.”

Rob Hale, President, Granite Telecommunications: “Internet 4 All can be built on the enduring foundation of the Telecom Act, which made competition the law of the land.  Competition brings creativity and a stronger sense of urgency to solving problems like the Homework Gap and COVID vaccine distribution. At Granite we lead by example, from our WiFi school bus conversions to our helping one of the nation’s largest pharmacies prepare over 7,000 locations for vaccine patients in just 5 days time. With competition, and a customer service driven attitude, America can make Internet 4 All a reality.”
