INCOMPAS/BroadLand: The Bipartisan BRIDGE ACT Helps Build a Faster Broadband Future
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 15, 2021) – Today, Sens. Michael Bennet (D-CO), Angus King (I-ME) and Rob Portman (R-OH) reintroduced their comprehensive broadband investment legislation, the BRIDGE ACT, to help states and local communities connect to faster speed internet that will help families and small businesses address the digital divide.
The legislation includes $40 billion in broadband funding, and INCOMPAS is pleased to see a bipartisan effort that builds toward the $100 billion universal broadband goal of connecting every American household and business to faster more affordable networks.
In response to the introduction of the BRIDGE ACT, Chip Pickering and Mignon Clyburn – who co-chair the new BroadLand campaign for INCOMPAS - released the following statements of support:
“The future of our broadband networks will determine the future of our nation. With gigabit speed benchmarks the BRIDGE ACT sends a strong message to the rest of the world that the United States will indeed be ready for the jobs of tomorrow. Building faster, future proof broadband opens more possibilities for innovation and investment, and it’s refreshing to see bipartisan leaders uniting around bold broadband goals.”
