INCOMPAS Statement in Advance of Net Neutrality Day in Court
WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 30, 2019) – On Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit will hear oral arguments in the legal challenge to save net neutrality.
INCOMPAS is a leading petitioner in the case. INCOMPAS is the internet and competitive networks association, representing streaming and cloud services, as well as smaller competitive fiber builders.
In advance of the oral arguments, Chip Pickering, CEO of INCOMPAS, and a former Republican Member of Congress, released the following statement:
“An open internet is the cornerstone for competition policy, and our legal challenge to save net neutrality has the support of streamers and main street businesses that rely on cloud services to grow.
“Our legal challenge will illustrate how large ISPs, who already control over 70 percent of the broadband market, have both the means and motive to do harm to consumers and competition following their recent mega-mergers.
“In their action, the FCC failed to include critical merger information that would have shown risks to consumers – including higher fees, fewer choices, and less investment.”
INCOMPAS, the internet and competitive networks association, is the leading trade group advocating for competition policy across all networks. INCOMPAS represents Internet, streaming, communications and technology companies large and small, advocating for laws and policies that promote competition, innovation and economic development.
