Q: What does your company do and how long has it been in operation?
A: Vertek Corporation, founded in 1988, helps its clients Accelerate to Value™. The company’s disciplined focus on telecommunications business and technology means that its consultants provide transformative strategic roadmaps that are actionable – always. Vertek combines industry leading talent, proven and flexible solutions, and robust processes to provide end-to-end business process outsourcing, business consulting, business intelligence and software offerings that deliver high ROI and fast time-to-value for communication service providers (CSPs), managed service providers (MSPs) and large enterprises.
Vertek’s integrated solutions enable it to accelerate the implementation of strategic imperatives, mitigate crisis situations and smooth the way toward seamless best-in-class solution execution on behalf of its clients. Vertek meets its clients’ objectives, while enabling them to:
Vertek’s involvement on hundreds of projects and millions of customer transactions, combined with its process-oriented technical ability and extensive telecom domain expertise, enables its team to meet new challenges.
Vertek is committed to integrity and quality. Its success has been the result of executing with precision. Simply, Vertek combines its expertise and advanced tools to accelerate value and deliver results to its clients with agility.
Q: To what do you attribute your company’s success in the communications industry?
A: As an independent solutions company, Vertek provides:
This agility in a fast-paced, ever-changing landscape quickly accelerates value as an extension of a client team or as a flexible, standalone outsourced managed service.
As a result, Vertek consistently delivers on its promises and successfully builds positive partnership relationships with its clients.
Q: What have been the biggest obstacles your company has faced in the marketplace?
A: Client/internal champion turnover is quite common in communications organizations of all sizes. It might be the result of a re-organization, an acquisition or organizational consolidation. Suddenly, a person (or persons) Vertek has been working with over a period of time is gone. At this point, all the effort working with a valued client can evaporate, and the process of re-introducing Vertek and its solutions to a new player or players must be initiated.
Conversely, because Vertek creates very strong value-based relationships with its clients, they have a solid understanding of Vertek’s capabilities. As a result, wherever these champions go they will continue to leverage Vertek.
Q: What do you see as your greatest challenges going forward?
A: The telecommunications industry is highly competitive. To keep pace and to stay relevant, exponential change is at its core – changing technologies, competitors and opportunities.
Staying abreast of all these changes is not for the faint of heart, and determining what changes are going to be for the better (and which are passing fads) will continue to be a challenge for everyone. Accurately evaluating the viability of changes in the marketplace, and working with its clients to incorporate changes as both needed and justified, will be a priority for Vertek.
Q: What have been some of your company’s most recent achievements (new customer wins, new service/product deployment, etc.)?
A: Traditionally, Vertek has focused on successfully providing telecommunications business and technology point solutions for large- and medium-sized carriers. Recently the company has created a complete telecom back office targeted toward smaller carriers, managed service providers (MSPs) and large enterprises. The service suite is called Vertek’s Telecom Life-cycle Management (VTLM). It includes Vendor Management, Quoting, Order Management, Dispatch Management, Solution Turn-up and Financial Assurance.
In addition, turn-key migration services have been in great demand as the economic recovery continues, and Vertek remains the choice of carriers for these services. The company has signed five major migration projects over the last nine months, and is in the process of discussing several more.
Q: Why is it important for your company to be a COMPTEL member?
A: There is a lot of value in taking advantage of COMPTEL’s educational programs. COMPTEL plays a key role in keeping our clients up to speed on where the industry is heading from a regulatory, technology and marketplace perspective.
In addition COMPTEL PLUS events are great venues to meet with clients and discuss their specific issues, as well as their thoughts and perspectives on the industry.
